About the Artist
My name is Matthew Lee Derbidge. I have been making art for a little over ten years. I am a native Idahoan, born and raised in Boise Idaho. I am a graduate of Boise High School and also a graduate of Boise State University earning a business degree from BSU. I have no formal training for the style of art I currently produce. In high school I took several semesters of ceramics but nothing close to the line art I now create. I discovered during my second semester at Boise State that I had more interest in doodling in my US history class than paying attention to the lecture. The thought occurred to me that perhaps art was my true calling in life and I set about making my first piece of art. That first piece was like opening a gateway to what quickly became my passion and obsession. My lines and work then were rudimentary at best, but the hunger and desire to make an even better piece fueled me to make another and another. Each new piece better than the one before, and the one after that better still, always with a focus on quality and detail.
